Get angry

Get angry
It’s the first step
To overcoming apathy
Indifference and lack of care

Get angry
Look at the world
The uncritical majority
Don’t see oppression when it’s there

Turn off your TV
Smash the ignorance box
Get into the real world
With poverty and dirty cops
Take a moment to muse
On all the murder going on
Half the time it’s by the ones you trust
And it’s never justifiable

We’re being controlled by the media
They censor our very fate
Keep us blind to the real issues
Issues of the state

Covering up the facts
With celebrities, gossip and hatred
It’s enough to keep us from the actual truth
That fascism is here

It’s time to get angry
Because we don’t have long
Before we all become slaves
Before our actions are decided
By the despotic regime.

Look at how we’re being exploited!
Look at how they manipulate our trust
Look at the evidence
They lie at every stop

How can you believe they’re always right
When our countries a complete mess
And shareholders are the only lucky ones
But we never get a rest

I’m angry all the time.
I can’t suppress my rage.
Every second despair fills my mind
About this corrupt system.

I hate the illegal wars.
I hate the poverty
I hate the constant injustice
I hate this hierarchy

I hate the tyrannous laws that pass
Without a second glance
I hate the fact we never have a choice
But to conform
Or else fear they’re wrath.

If this is democracy
I’d hate to live under a dictator
Because they choose our livelihoods
They are the Freedom Haters.

If we step out of line
Look at what they do.
We’re put in prison for years on end,
For conflicting with their views.

So.
I hate this authority
This minority rule.
The paradigm needs to shift
To something a lot less cruel

This hegemony that we hold
Needs to disappear completely
The first step,
As I’ve already stated,

Is. To. Get. Angry.

Because this can’t continue.
This has got.
TO.
STOP

Advertising

Invasive advertising
Stealing our space
Everything is branded
Nothing is free

Nothings independent
Any more.
Everything is sponsored
Now get down and kiss our floor

Contracts and killing schemes
Intrusive superficiality
Getting into our thoughts
Vandalizing our dreams
Nowhere is safe
From the omnipotent logos
Release the people from your grasp
And give us our space back

Everywhere is branded
Nowhere is free
From commercialism
And the conglomerative teams

The moguls of the market
The capitalist czars
Kaisers of exploitation
In their fast cars.

They didn’t earn their money
They raped the world of joy
They twisted everything that was good
And made everything a lie.

Get out of my head.
I want to be released
And not have child labor on my conscience
Or famine and disease

You’ve crept inside our minds
So that were never satisfied
Greed has taken over our hearts
I ask myself why.

From the second we awake
To the second we fall dead
Everywhere is sponsored
Biased, chained and blistered red.

Draconian clauses
Nestled in your terms
Gagging our free speech
There is no free world.

I want want to walk without
Being assaulted in the street
By your invasive advertising
And the latest release.

We try to see nature
But it is never there
Just unwanted buildings
Billboards and campaigns.

Get me out of this world!
I scream in vain.
Avarice has stolen the Earth
Usurped nature’s precious ways.

No-one has integrity
No-one in your ranks.
Nothing has personality
The worlds a giant piggy bank.

All I see
Is advertising
And waste.
Please, someone.
Give back the people’s space.

It’s ours to enjoy!
Not just your little empire
We want an unbranded Earth
Where beauty is everywhere

And no
No.
Advertising.

What we are

Proselytize me
Indoctrinate me
Make me think uncritically
I will not question Authority

I will not denounce TV
I can’t deduce anything
Dogma, infiltrate my mind

I’m not a human being

I’m metal to be crafted into conscription tools
Weapons of militant kilo-joules
Weld me into a war machine

I’m not a human being

Shape me into servitude
Submission, subjection, subjugation
I’m happy to be sedated.
By government: intoxicated

I’m happy to be pushed around
Happy to be thrown to the ground
I’m happy to be sleep deprived, water-boarded and starved.

For this is who we are.
Compliant, conforming, consumerists.

Potential profits for companies.
Potential dollar signs in corporation’s eyes.
We’re not people. We are a monetary unit.

We are pecuniary cogs in a malfunctioning machine.
We are bricks in a broken wall.
We are cells in a schizophrenic body.

These machines; these bricks; these cells – are a system of corruption. They are this very system, this very society.

I don’t scrutinize what they think I’m worth. I accept that I am worthless, until I have cash to dispense, upon shops and salespeople; to purchase goods with my labour for things I don’t need. For sand that blows away in the wind; for food that rots; for a flicker of temporary light. This is what we are told we need. Things that bring a glimpse of happiness, before a storm of immense depression.

I am not a human being. I am wood that fuels the polluted fire of capitalism.

This is what I am.
