March the Fury – New Blog

Several months have gone by without a post on this site, so I will explain why.

Since the arrival of a Tory/Liberal Democrat coalition government in the UK, my primary focus has been on my other blog – March the Fury -  a political site covering student issues from a left perspective.

The government is pushing through the biggest cuts in public spending since the 1930′s (which failed, by the way). Over a million people are going to lose their jobs in what the government says will tackle the deficit – but making over a million unemployed is not going to solve our financial problems. VAT is rising, while corporation tax is being reduced. Bank bonuses are at £7 billion a year, and bank profits around £18 billion this year alone. The rich have seen their fortunes soar by 55%, while the poor are seeing public services slashed to the detriment of local communities.

As you can see, there is a lot to fight against, and there is an alternative that students, charities, unions, progressives and community groups must fight for. I will therefore be winding this blog down and I hope you will check out March the Fury – the voice of socialist students.

Thanks for reading.
